Alright, let’s get down to business ladies. Alien Vs. Predator, I can’t think of a better game idea than the one this one had. Trying to revive the old series was no easy challenge. They’d a lot to work with I’ll start off by saying the graphics are what we expect now a days. Meaning, they’re good some of the faces could use a little work but, nothing the awesome detail of the Predator can’t fix. The Alien is really well designed, mechanics are tough to figure out in the beginning so I using the Marine would be my first suggestion.
Let me jump off track here, unlike some other professional sites I don’t care where I go with this. The campaign for AVP is nice. You’ve the option of playing either three choices story line. All of which are a good length and very well written. All the campaigns really put you in the mood for the “race” you’re playing. Wither you’re leaping from tree to tree as a Predator or snapping around at every sound you hear as a Marine. I will say that the campaign is very immersive and well thought out. The ending for them each is pretty suitable and I can live with it. There are plenty of times when I’m playing as a Predator and I just feel like I want to rip off the heads of all the marines, and then there are times when I just like to play with them. I’ve to say I’m pretty bais when it comes to this game because Predator is my favorite, though I won’t discredit how badass the Aliens work. For instance they did a perfect job, with the darkness making it so that you’d never see them unless you shined your light directly at them or had the “alien” vision on as a Predator. Marines are pretty much your balance they don’t exceed in much of anything other than their ability to shoot multiple bullets. >_>
(Oh hi! Let me give you a hair cut.)
Now there are a varity of weapons for Predator and Marine, none for the Aliens but that makes sense. However, this gets a bit much in Multiplayer. You’ve got Marines who mainly just huddle up and camp one area. Predators who get the “Bloosh Bloosh” cannon and one shot everything. Then the aliens who seem to swarm you out of nowhere. I honestly think the Predator is the favorite as far as the multiplayer goes, which is a shame cause it doesn’t help balance things at all. Oh and don’t get me started on the match making system itself! That thing is so horrible that I’d rather eat a box of laxatives. I remember, sitting in a lobby with Quantum and Locke for almost thirty mins to an hour! I mean seriously that is something the need, I mean NEED to work on. Then..they’ve the wonderful Idea to throw in that horrible loading screen that just kinda makes you think you’re in the hot box, from an old prison movie. Oh..that is something I can live with Doombull. Oh is it? Cause don’t’ forget the Predator and Alien also have an attack from behind where they can one shot you. Sounds awesome right? Wrong, cause you’re sitting there for god knows how long before you actually kill them. The Predator looks like he wants to keep almost every kill as a trophy, which is fine but don’t take three mins to do that so some butthole can come by and beat the crap out of you while you do it. Then the Alien, since they NEVER travel alone will do his one hit kill and be ok cause he has back up.
(See, they never travel alone! NEVER!)
All in all, the game needs a lot of work. I’m sure they’ve done a number of improvements since I last played but as it stands the game is a work in progress for Multiplayer. Campaign is nice and I recommend the game for that if anything. Till next time children, take luck!
